Nursing african style!

This is not a post on real African style nursing, but rather a post about my latest Pregnancy-Nursing Bra made in an African Vlisco print!

This creation sums up my journey to conquer the realm of boob support, breathability and comfort during pregnancy and throughout nursing. For a summary of the journey you can read the full post here.

After my last eggplant yumm comfort bra and in my obsessive search for comfort + support, I decided to make one more bra. For this version I modified the following:

• The cups are layerered: a stable and thick cotton from Vlisco +a layer of Kinisi as lining.
• I further shortened the cup extension and connected the powerbar to a more supportive strap to lessen the pressure that gravity puts on my shoulders.
• I reduced the length of the powerbar so instead of connecting the strap to the horizontal seam at the center of the bra, it now connects the strap to the horizontal seam at the side of the bra. Much more comfortable this way!

 

I’m totally in love with this bra, with its magnetic clips, wide straps, supportive cups, stable band and gothic arc!! It is perfect for dates out, when I like to wear my nursing clothes or just for the pleasure of seeing that lovely fabric every time I get ready to nurse. If I were to make a next version, I would probably try joining the powerbar to the front of the bra, since sometimes the powerbar in these bras turns backwards, but that is just a very minor detail.
